    I’m not in Big Trees now- but going up tonight. THere are no power failures at our place on Iroquois- you can sign up with PG&E to get text message updates in case there is a power failure.

    On kind of the same subject –
    Power status tip for us non-full timers:
    Freeze a can full of water. Put a coin on top of the ice, and leave it in the freezer.
    If, when you come to the cabin, the coin is at the bottom of the can, then power has been out long enough to possibly spoil the contents of your freezer.
    This may already be common knowledge, but it took me the first 5 years of ownership to figure this out.
