We used to get analog TV with an antenna but everyone says they can’t get any digital TV up here with an antenna. I haven’t tried it myself.
September 25, 2013 at 10:56 pm #953BootstrapParticipantMaybe this has been brought up before…but has anyone had any luck receiving any local channels thru the air via a digital antenna..? This would of course be free if there is reception. I don’t know how digital signals travel compared to the old analog…
September 25, 2013 at 12:37 am #950allenParticipantNo problems here. Did you reboot the modem? I just read what I wrote. I should work at Comcast tech support! 🙂
September 24, 2013 at 10:40 am #944caleachParticipantI just looked at a camera we have set up and it’s still live.
September 23, 2013 at 6:55 pm #943DogwoodParticipantHi All, Our comcast died this last Saturday morning and hasn’t returned since. I reset the router with no luck. Anyone else have this problem?
September 19, 2013 at 11:09 am #904allenParticipantThanks for the info. Yes, ours was scrambled on the 18th also. I was going to post something yesterday but I was super busy. For now I am using my non-HD DTA. I understand they will provide an HD DTA for six months free and then it’s $10 a month. I’ll have to think about that. I’m tempted to get rid of the cable TV altogether and just watch streaming video from Netflix and Amazon. Problem is I still need Internet.
September 19, 2013 at 10:43 am #903MCTParticipantOurs was not actually scrambled until the 18th either. But once that happened we had to use their DTAs. The HD-DTAs did work and we have local HD channels with Limited Basic. Had to find them in the 703-712 channel range, but they were there…
September 17, 2013 at 11:29 pm #900allenParticipantInteresting. They are at least one day late as we watched limited basic TV today without any Comcast boxes or adapters. I guess I’ll see what happens tomorrow (Sept 18th). Thanks for posting the email.

As of that day no TV channels for you unless you have a Comcast device connected!Could you pm me the email or copy and paste it here? Without personal information of course.

September 9, 2013 at 5:09 pm #556AnonymousInactiveI have installed a few systems.
Once you learn how to do port forwarding and static ip setups it's not so bad.
I find its harder to run wiring. My wife agrees so I will be putting 4 cameras. Will be nice to check driveway and have peace of mind.
before the winter starts.
September 9, 2013 at 3:57 pm #555AnonymousInactiveWe never received a letter from Comcast telling us they were going to encrypt the clear QAM local HD channels we had been getting all this time but we did just receive a "free" DTA (Digital Transport Adapter) [Standard Definition only] brought by UPS. Three hours of phone calls to Comcast later we found out they are encrypting all the local channels on Limited Basic soon (conflicting info on when – ether mid-September or mid-October ) and we got them to send us 3 free HD-DTAs that we will need to install on our TVs to get past their encryption. Free for two years then $1.99 ea every month after that…
September 9, 2013 at 3:32 am #554AnonymousInactiveI just finished hooking up a security camera and will say that it was a chore because I ddon'ta understand network activity very well. Bottom line is that it works ans i may even add some cameras down the line.
SteveSeptember 9, 2013 at 3:26 am #553AnonymousInactiveTonight I talked my wife into a set of outdoor camera security system.
Especially that graffiti picture and I want to keep an eye on the snow level.
It's the only way to protect yourself.
