Thank you all for your support! I’ve done my best to make Camp Connell a friendly place, a place where you can enjoy a coffee, or a beer, and everyone is welcome. I know we are far from perfect, but I’ll keep trying to make improvements.

If anyone has any issues, I’d love to hear about it, so I can make things better.

Flyer, your comments about Camp Connell have made me feel that a rebuttal is needed.

Our family has been coming to Big Trees Village for over 40 years. We have seen Camp Connell change over the times in so many ways. Over these years, Camp Connell has always been a welcoming place for myself and my family. It hasn’t mattered who owned it or who managed the location. My two children always enjoy going there for a visit.

My son, who has special needs, feels extremely comfortable hanging out there. During our vacations, visiting Camp Connell is one of the highlights of his day. Donna and her employees, Dan and his fantastic crew have always made a point of making sure that my family, and especially my son was greeted warmly and treated with respect. We consistently work on outside the house social skills with our son. He is so comfortable working on these skills at the store, that he seems like a typical person. The staff there have been extremely patient and accommodating to him and our family and have helped our son evolve as a person.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is that Camp Connell is a warm and welcoming place for all. It is a great resource those of us that have a place or live above Arnold.

Flyer, you are entitled to your own opinion, from my experience and observations I don’t agree with your post.

I too agree with Mr Snider – The Camp Connell Store is a local icon and should be seen as such. Dan has done a great job – the “backyard” gatherings in the summer are special and get great attendance.

Good job Dan – you know we love you (Jack & Victoria)!

    Dan,
Our family sure appreciates you and what you have done with the store. I love your staff too. I can find everything I need at your store. Thank you for all you do for our community.

Regarding Camp Connell not sure what you mean “flyer”, here is my email address, dtulipani@gmail.com my name is Dan. We have high ratings on Facebook, Yelp, and Google, so I’m not sure what you mean when you say we don’t care.

And your comment on the 3 day weekend, we were slammed, so don’t know what you mean about it being dead. We are a family friendly place, and that’s why we close early, we have no intention of being a Bar.

As for friendly, if you’ve been coming up here any length of time you should know I’ve received numerous compliments that our staff is extremely friendly. So if you were not greeted at the door, please send me an email and let me know about your experience. Of course, if I don’t hear from you I’ll realize your post is false, and I’ll call you on that.

There has been a lot of that , and I’m told this is because there were some locals who had hoped the place would go out of business and they could buy it for “dirt cheap” before I bought the place. yes hard to believe people could be so mean, huh? Yes, there are trolls with bad intent, what a surprise right?

I’ll look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you Michelle…It’s always hard in a severe storm to keep driveways completely clear. Trying to swim in two feet of snow to get to the driveways slows it down more. Glad you were happy and safe. We do our best. thank you for your business.
    Thank you,

Adam, let me especially commend you guys for being ON IT keeping our driveways clear during the last storm. “Our” snowcat driver must’ve been exhausted because he was coming around the clock. But he did a great job, often following the plow to remove the berm after he already cleared the driveway. Once he came back after I pulled my car out of the way, even though by the time I got fully bundled up he had moved on to the neighbor’s house. It made such a huge difference, really makes it livable here even in the middle of extreme weather. Truly appreciated. Please don’t change!

We certainly appreciate the business of the bay area people and all cabin owners in Dorrington. Thank you for coming to our neck of the sierras. It was a crazy weekend. The sun is shining and things have slowed a little..Thank you for investing in our economy. Don’t let one bad experience ever make you feel that your business is not appreciated here. Employees are tired after working a long weekend and are doing their best. Thank you for investing here and continuing to bring your familes to enjoy the mountain.
    Thank you,

Let me use the Lube Room as an example. When they used to have Alice command the ship and she treated everyone like heck they were going out of business. Ok so the owners added a great back deck and a spruced up menu the biggest thing is customer service. You feel like they appreciate your business. Ace Hardware treats ya like gold walking into the store. Napa Autoparts thanks you 10 times before you leave. Camp Connell was going down the same path as the Lube Room was and they changed owners and things seeme to pick up but now it getting back to “what ya need”mentality instead of making the customer feel like they are appreciated. It was practically a ghost town there over the three day weekend. Right now Bear Valley is also doing this with lousy customer service. Big Burger is like a tweeker hang out. Is it that hard to train employees up here? Or does management just not care. Come on management step up the game. The economy is on fire now is the time to showcase our area and get customers wanting to invest in homes and start using this wonderful part of the Sierras.
