As I remember it had a couple businesses in it, multi use building.
The bar was full a lot. They even had karaoke night, can you believe in Arnold? I remember my wife and I even did a duet one night, it was not pretty….
I don’t know for sure what has changed but the whole Hwy 4 corridor from Avery to Bear Valley use to have a lot of action in 70’s and 80’s and up to about mid 90’s if I remember correctly.
Thanks for the history lessons guys! We’ve wondered what was there since they tore it down. It was there one weekend and gone the next……..except the chimney which remained for a few years.
When I moved here in 1978 it was a bar/restaurant called the The Clipper Mill. It later changed hands and became The Whiskey River Inn, another bar/restaurant. I believe before the Clipper Mill it may have been The Ebbetts Pass Inn or something similar.
We bought our place in 1994 (July). At this location (see picture) the was “something” there. Within a year it was torn down. We were busy working on our cabin and never visited “whatever” was there. Our part time cabin neighbor thinks it may have been a bar. Anyone remember what was there?
