Do a google search for: "att free microcell"
I paid for mine, but doesn't mean you can't try to get a free one.
April 11, 2012 at 7:25 pm #350AnonymousInactiveCheck the at&t website for rebates. I paid $150 after rebate from AT&T.
Install was smooth and it works works as expected.
I did have to physically move the microcell from the closet where the the cable modem was installed to a location closer to the exterior of the house so the GPS would sync up.April 10, 2012 at 1:24 am #349AnonymousInactiveI called ATT , they want $199. I saw some on craigslist for 60-100.00.

ThanksA search for "Microcell" using the "HomeHelpSearch…" above will find lot of info on microcells.

ThanksApril 7, 2012 at 4:54 pm #346AnonymousInactiveHeard a few days ago that on Monday, Golden State Cellular will begin selling minutes without a fixed monthly fee. Buy a phone and some minutes, and you won't have a bill again until you have to buy more minutes.
Probably a good solution for weekenders and part-timers.
April 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm #345AnonymousInactiveOur Verizon service has never worked at our cabin but we have always received service in Arnold.
April 7, 2012 at 2:59 pm #344AnonymousInactiveSorry. Our network extender does not seem to work. The red "SYS" light just flashes indicating that it isn't connecting to Verizon All other lights blue.
April 6, 2012 at 7:12 pm #343AnonymousInactiveTo vnj: I saved my network extender just in case Verizon/Golden State worked things out. So let me know if it's working again! I'll keep fingers crossed.
April 6, 2012 at 4:41 am #342AnonymousInactiveMy iPad 3G with Verizon service has never worked up there, sounds like maybe it will now.
Looking forward to giving it a try.

We will be back up in a couple days and will reinstall the femtocell and report. Sadly I am not optimistic. This is not a Verizon phone and up until yesterday it had never worked until I got down the hill, out of the Golden State coverage area. This is a device that uses the Verizon mobile data service, not digital voice. The Verizon coverage map still shows no coverage in our area but I tested it again today and it does indeed work.

April 5, 2012 at 7:08 pm #339AnonymousInactiveHi Joe,
My Verizon cell has always worked in the shopping center and most locations in Arnold.
However, in 25 years it has only worked once in BTV. That was when I had one of those old brick cell phones that had a lot of power and it only worked the one time probably 20 years ago.
Does anybody have a cell phone service that does work consistently in BTV?
My Comcast bill has gotten out of site and we would like to find ways to cut down on the phone / Internet / Cable TV bill. $120 per month for a second home is ridiculous.

April 5, 2012 at 1:59 pm #302bigtreestechmanKeymasterFYI, I noticed for the first time yesterday that my Verizon MiFi (hot spot) worked in Arnold. It has never done so before. I suspect that Golden State has either upgraded their towers, revised their agreement with Verizon, or both. Those of you who had previously tried your Verizon nano-cells (or whatever they are called) and found that they didn't work up here might give it another try.
