Nice start to the season! 12-15 inches in Big Trees. Very cold…it was 12 degrees on my deck Sunday morning.
Driving was no fun. There was white-over ice/snow on the road starting below 2,500 feet. Fortunately, few cars wound up in the snow banks.
Took the snow pole out for the wedding reception in our yard earlier in the year. It won’t go back up until next year at the earliest unless I get a wild hair some warm day. You can always ask how deep it is. We got close to a foot, depending on where you measure, and it’s settled down to 6 to 8 inches.
I’m at 1900′ in Cool, near Auburn, and we have 6″ of snow. I imagine from the pictures on this website that there must be closer to a foot of snow. Thanks for the service, Big Trees Tech!

From the Caltrans site at 6:00 am Saturday:
“CHAINS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT 4-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLES WITH SNOW
TIRES ON ALL 4 WHEELS FROM 1.5 MI WEST OF MURPHYS (CALAVERAS CO) TO THE
MT REBA TURNOFF (ALPINE CO)”
Yes, KCRA is usually good. However, like I said, I’ve never seen such a large discrepancy before… and then this morning KCRA reported that the DOW was down 94 points when actually it was up 23 (at that time). Maybe they had a computer hiccup.
Coming up Saturday late morning. Hoping for the first snow cones of the season. Let’s hope that the regional forecast is right and Weather.com is wrong!
We didn’t get much snow yesterday but have you seen the forecast for Friday night?
“New snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible.”
Temperatures are low. Are you winterized?
