Good news!!!!! I hooked up my old network extender, had to wait about 20-30 minutes for all the lights to turn blue, then successfully used my cell phone! I was getting impatient and almost gave up, but it finally worked. The power and WAN light turn blue right away, of course. The GPS light started solid red, then blinking red, then finally blue after about 5-10 minutes. The SYS light started solid red, then blinking red/blue. It stayed in this state for about 20 minutes before finally turning solid blue!

What wonderful news. We too saved our network extender. I hope it will work. A chance for cell service in the cabin once again! Awesome.

I believe Verizon and AT&T do use different technology. The bigger cities have towers for both, but up here I do believe only Verizon will work. I used to use a TracFone and they lease tower bandwidth from AT&T. I always lost cell service around Angels Camp, maybe a little higher.

I thought that when traveling and “roaming” the access was through a shared agreement, but you may be right.

I am not aware that an AT&T phone will work on a Verizon network anywhere. They use different technology, don’t they?

Not being TOO savvy on these issues, does this Verizon acquisition of Golden State mean that an ATT&T cell account will have access through the Verizon network like elsewhere in the state/country?

Gary, let us know if the network extender will now work (or work in the near future)! I saved mine, so will set it up if it will work.

Now maybe my ipad with the 4G LTE card from Verizon will work in the area.

Wonder if my “mini-tower” will work again.
Does any one know? I should probably call
    Verizon.

My wife said there was an article in the Calaveras Enterprise saying Verizon is buying Golden State. It is expected that Verizon will make several improvements, including expanding coverage areas and upgrading to 4G LTE. Music to my ears……:-)
