Joe,
I like everything about the new format and layout better than the earlier version. It’s faster, easier, and more intuitive. You are doing a great job. We will all be patient with the changes and additions that are yet to come.
September 16, 2013 at 5:21 am #891bigtreestechmanKeymasterHi VNJ, those graphs are really too small to read anyway. If you click on one that you want to see, it will open up a big version without the title bar.
I had to add the title bar because it was too difficult to even tell what the graph was without it.
Sometime I may make some changes or go back to the way it was on the old site where you had to click on the current condition to get the graph.
joeSeptember 15, 2013 at 7:37 pm #886vnjParticipantAt least on my computer (Win 7 and Firefox 23) the titles at the bottom of each of the 24 Hour Weather graphs cover the lower portion of each graph. Not a high priority issue because you can view the entire graph (without title) by clicking on it, but thought I would point it out.

September 15, 2013 at 2:30 pm #876vnjParticipantThe new forum is much easier for old eyes to read! We appreciate everything you do —– and yes, we found the appropriate button even though it moved from the right side to the left! 🙂
September 14, 2013 at 3:39 pm #719btt_adminKeymasterfyi, I started this morning at a little after 4:30am after not being able to sleep, thinking about fixes for the site.
The only thing I am going to keep working on for a while is anti-registration spam. Just since this morning I have received about a dozen very suspect registration requests, and only one that I know to be legit. I’m now on my third attempt at a spam registration blocker.
On the old BigTreesTech, it took over a year to find a solution that worked.
There ought to be a death penalty for spammers!September 14, 2013 at 3:07 pm #718JohnMParticipantJoe,
Completely understand about the priorities. You’ve done a great amount of work on the Big Trees Tech site. It is much appreciated.

September 14, 2013 at 3:01 pm #717AZbunchParticipantLooking very nice, Joe!!
September 14, 2013 at 1:53 pm #716btt_adminKeymasterThanks for the feedback,John.
The whole header area is going to get a complete makeover… someday soon. The picture up there is just a stock photo that came with the theme I’m using. For a while yet my focus is going to be on functionality. Pretty and cool will come soon 🙂
Also, as I said in one of my last posts on the old site, I have put a very high priority task on hold to make this transition. Now that the basic functionality is up and running, I need to get back to that other task. It will probably take me several weeks to get this other task done.September 14, 2013 at 1:45 pm #715btt_adminKeymasterWe now also have Captcha for login, registration, and a few other places. Just simple math like one + 2 = what?
Why? Because I already got the first suspicious looking user registration request and I don’t need the headache of verifying a bunch of bogus registration requests every day.
hope you don’t mind,
joeSeptember 14, 2013 at 1:33 pm #714JohnMParticipantHi Joe,
The site looks very good. Congratulations. We all owe you a great deal of gratitude.
I have a suggestion: The mountain picture at the top of the page looks nice, but it may be more meaningful to have a picture that represents the local area. Would you be willing to replace it with a scenic picture(s) from the Ebbetts Pass area taken by local photographers? You could ask for submissions and choose a new picture to highlight every month. I think your users would appreciate the ‘change of scenery’ monthly and the photographers would love the ‘exposure’ (pun intended). I’m sure you have a mountain of work to finish the new design, but would you consider a ‘photo of the month’ for the future?
Best,
JohnM
September 14, 2013 at 12:48 pm #712btt_adminKeymasterHey Steve, it’s not just you and your iPad. Everyone has to get a new password.
joeSeptember 14, 2013 at 12:18 pm #695caleachParticipantI guess I forgot what my password was, and since the iPad can’t save login information, i went through the process of re setting it which was a breeze.
Good work Joe.
SteveSeptember 14, 2013 at 11:30 am #694allenParticipantNice!
