We have a cast-iron, enameled decorative steamer on our stove, bought from one of the local wood-stove stores. It works great, but the interior is unfinished, and now rusty, so the hot water inside is not potable. L.L. Bean has a “Lattice Stovetop Steamer” you may like. The inside is also enameled, so may do double-duty as a cook pot.
We have a decorative steamer/pot on top of the wood stove. It makes a significant difference with dry skin, breathing, warmer feel, etc and we have had no issue with mold. Yes, I believe a cook pot would suffice, but something more decorative is simply nice.
Anyone use a wood stove steamer to help with dry air in the winter time? I saw some decorative ones but, I am assuming a regular pot of water would do the same thing. I am guessing you would have to boil off a lot of water to create mold issues. Any experiences?
