Yep, that’s me. I was instigator, participant, and audio / video editor for this little project. Not sure I’ll ever do another one. It was a huge amount of work.

I’m a little late in responding to this note but: When the crew cleaned up in front of my cabin I was there and they said they were doing it to prepare the way for “ditch and shoulder improvements”. Could this be true? Some of the culverts are getting buried and some ditches are filling with debris. . .

Just an update on the SportDOG TEK series GPS collar. So far it works excellent. It locks on to satellites very quickly and even up here in BTV it does good job of tracking my Pointer. If the collar loses a GPS lock, the handheld device vibrates momentarily so you know but so far it only loses GPS lock for a few seconds at a time when my dog runs under a lot of trees. The collar is pretty large so it’s not for small breeds.

    Joe,

I’ve been a weekender in Dorrington since ’95 and a lurker @ bigtreestech for years and have never felt compelled to add anything until checking out your violinlab performance.
    FWIW – Awesome!
I’m glad to know this exists and I’m glad you chose to participate.

    thank you.

I guess my coffee wasn’t strong enough to make me fully awake this morning. I didn’t notice the video part, until the comments others were making didn’t make sense. DUH… It is indeed, a wonderful thing to listen to, and watch.

Thank you for sharing. Very impressive on the part of all involved. Imagine all the practice time in multiple locations of the world coming together like that.

    Cheers,
    Bob

    Joe-
This brought tears to my eyes. I’ve left Calaveras County (had two homes at one point, in Big Trees Village and Avery) and am now in San Diego. But continue to enjoy checking the website to see what’s new. Keep up the great work!!!

Joe, I am impressed, and more than a little happy that you linked up with two of my favorite musicians (and many more) to play this lovely tune. I’ll be working on the mandolin version. Pat is listening to it now and going “WOW…WOW…OH how wonderful.” It is indeed.

FYI, aside from a kitchen remodel, a couple weddings, and an emergency re-do of this site, this is the big project that’s taken up a lot of my time and attention.
    Just thought I’d share…

Also with Foremost after Allstate dumped me a couple of years ago because I have a tree with in 20′ of my cabin. I asked the inspector how many cabins he’d passed and he said none in the last 6 months. I later dropped all of my other Allstate policies and ended over 15 years of patronage with them.

We use State Farm for Home/Auto/Life and they wrote a policy for our place in BTV when we built it. I have periodically reviewed the level of coverage to make sure that the cost to rebuild takes into account the current cost per square foot that most builders seem to be getting. The overall cost has been relatively stable since we first started 11 years ago.
