Hi Julia,
We had to do the insurance dance a couple of months ago for our cabin in BTV, and AAA was able to hook us up with the FAIR plan, and a homeowners policy to fill in the gaps. They were even able to give us an exception to their usual requirement that you have a primary homeowners policy with them (we would, except our primary residence is a commercial building, which they don’t insure). I found them helpful and easy to work with.
You could also try Tom Pratt @ Delos Insurance (209) 206-3390 – he gave us a quote that was about the same as AAA, and was also helpful.
Rgds,

fourni1ParticipantHi Julia,
For fire you can check “California Fair Plan”. You will need homeowners on top of it. I think AAA is still writing policies in the area.JuliaHParticipantHi all. We just received a notice from our insurer notifying us that it is not going to renew our policy that is coming up on Feb. 2. I know this topic has been discussed before, but the posts are somewhat dated. Has anyone had success with finding homeowners insurance lately?

gagacabinParticipantHi, I see that we are supposed to have heavy rain on Sunday. Will this make the roads icier? We are wondering if we should try to leave this afternoon or wait until the rain.
Safe travels to all of you.bigtreestechmanKeymasterIt’s here. Please don’t come up if you don’t have snow traction or 4WD and snow tires. Please obey the 25MPH snow condition signs as well.
Safe travels or safe at home!bigtreestechmanKeymasterSnow is in the forecast. We could have up to a foot on the ground by Thanksgiving.
WillyCParticipantI have always used Ash Away and find them very good and responsive. You may want to call back as I just made my appointment today.
lawverParticipantPG&E wants us to get so mad that we assume the fire debt in our mad dash to take them over. Oh, did I mention the taxes to cover the pension for all of these new government employees?
Keep them private but strip them of all liquid assets so their share holders bleed. Don’t let T.U.R.N. screw it up as they did with Diablo Canyon; they cost us rate payers far more than it should have; again for the idea of penalizing PG&E.
