Because we didn’t want to pay more than 3 times what we paid last year, we ended up having to get a split plan….California Fair Plan and Travellers for contents, etc. Local agent Carol Mikalec 209-200-1901. I cannot say enough good things about her, very helpful and knowledgeable about what is happening with all the cancellations and rate increases.

Our houses in Santa Clara and Arnold are both insured by The Hartford via our AARP membership for over ten years. If you are an AARP member (their annual membership is very reasonable) I’d ask for a quote. The Hartford also covers our two cars.

We got the same letter from AAA, so we did quite a bit of research. We’re going with USAA for both cars and both homes. We save money by bundling. USAA is VERY serious about security. 1-800-531-8722. I think you have to be a veteran, which I am, to become a member.

Don’t bother checking with Heffernan. Too expensive. Einhorn is another reasonable choice.

    Good luck.

Has anyone else had the fire portion of their insurance cancelled? My AAA policy just dropped for 2019, the following: Fire, Wind Hail, Explosion, Riot, Aircraft, Vehicles, Smoke, Volcanic Eruption, or vandalism, Loss of use, etc. Any suggestions of what insurance companies are currently covering these items?

Thank you bigtreestechman. We were at our cabin last week and I was shocked at the literally hundreds of trees marked with an X for removal. Some are beautiful 100ft plus sugar pines and cedars. We had two marked for removal, I called 559-263-7225, in Fresno, the # of the company to which PG&E has subcontracted the work. They were very courteous when I told them that they could trim the trees but I did not want them removed. They said they would not remove the trees.

PG&E cut down a big fir tree on my property AND cut it into rounds. I have plenty of firewood already, do this is free for the taking. It’s on the front left corner of the property at 3628 Hoopa Circle.

I got a call from PG&E about my trees from an unusual phone number too. I asked the caller to read the phone numbers from PG&E’s emergency list. All four numbers they read to me were correct so it was clear the caller was plugged into PG&E’s data base. So I agree with the idea that PG&E is using contractors to do the phone calls.

I was contacted by someone with a Fresno area code, who was a contractor for PG&E, to discuss the trees on my property. I later called the PG&E hotline number and all the information I had provided to the contractor was in the PG&E system. It appears PG&E is using contractors from all over to make the phone calls and they all share the same database of information.

If you are having a hard time deciding…not only do we have the best prices in town…we also do not state in our contract that in severe storms we only plow enough space for two cars. Why anyone would think that is ok in a severe storm I will never understand. Some claim they are the biggest. We on the other hand are more humble. We give you more bang for your buck and don’t do shortcuts in severe storms. We have over 23 years experience doing snow removal. We have everything and more than any of our competitors. We want our customers feeling like they get more at a better price and we are just nicer. If you’re stuck Adam and our guys take the time to help people. Call us 209 795-2847 There’s a lot more to snow removal than sending out a flyer saying you’re the biggest. Perfection takes years and we have it..over 23. Call us anytime..We prefer not to do automated services because we want to know our customers.

I have not been contacted by someone with that number, but it could be legit. PG&E is contracting with people from all over to do the tree work. I’ve seen a lot out of state license plates in our area.
