Is it just me or are the newer highway so bright you can’t even see them? They are so reflective that I can’t even read them at night and have to shield my vision from the reflective given off by my low beams.

Does anyone know who might repair an old (vintage 1960s) Singer sewing machine? And to think I was planning to do some mending tonight before the machine had different ideas! Thank you for any input.

I am interested in the sofa, if it’s in as good condition as the love seat seems to be in the photo. I was JUST checking around for sofas this weekend!

Let me know if it’s still available, thanks.

FYI, the new forum no longer supports “private messaging”. However, I’ve just added the capability to mark a forum reply to be “Set as private reply” which is supposed to make it visible only to the original topic poster and admins.

I bought a new sofa and love seat for our cabin. I have a sleeper sofa and/or love seat available to anyone who wants it. I am coming up today (2/24) and tomorrow.

    PM if interested.

    Thanks, Vic

Attached is a picture of the love seat, the sleeper sofa is the same pattern

There is a great article in Friday’s (2/21) Calaveras Enterprise titled “Residents look to control Bear Valley’s destiny”. To quote the article, “Bear Valley Mtn COOP was formed to give people in the area an opportunity to take control of their own destiny by providing a way to purchase the resort’s assets, including the extensive infrastructure on the mtn. leased from the U.S. Forest Service”. There is much more in the article. If interested, go to their website,
bvmcoop.org, scroll down to get the latest updates on bvmcoop.org. You then need to put in your email to get periodic updates, and it is free.

Some people came by looking for the owner of a Welsh Corgi. I didn’t get their phone number but they are at 5313 Midoo Way. Please contact them if this is your dog or you know whose dog it is. See photo.

You can report a dead bird online here:

    http://www.westnile.ca.gov/report_wnv.php

I think I would report it just to be safe.

We’ve never seen a hawk up here, either We were able to identify it as a Cooper’s Hawk. We have had 4 birds fly into the windows over the 11 years we’ve been here, but no hawks. We were concerned if it might have been diseased…

I am actually surprised that a hawk would be in the woods so to speak since they seem to like hanging out at a height and scanning open ground for food. I wonder if there was something else going on that led this bird in there? I have seen more hawks around, along the highway, light poles at shopping centers, telephone wires, etc.

We’ve had several birds fly into our 2nd story widow. The window is ~ 4’H x 3’W. During the day the window ‘mirrors’ the sky and the birds think the window is a continuation of the sky. Our solution was to place a wind sock in front of the window. The sock is a multi-colored fish design that looks attractive and, so far, has kept birds from flying into the window. The windsock was purchased from Amazon: “In the Breeze 60″ Rainbow Scales Fish Windsock”. Cost was ~ $20.

We’ve never had a hawk fly into a window, but we did have a band-tailed pigeon do it. It left a perfect image on the window.
