Last night on Crow court a little after midnight the GFIs in our Master Bath started cackling. Got up and some circuits were out, some seemed ok and some were under voltage. Slight scent of burning so we decided to bail and go home. Shut main breaker off to prevent any further damage.
On Crow Drive saw some downed power lines on right side of road so avoided them and went forward. Then there was a big tree downed across the road with more power lines down. Could not go forward and not safe enough to back out. Called 911 and Fire Dept, CHP and PG&E responded. Took about 1.5 hours but PG&E shut off the lines (some were still live. PG&E said good thing we stayed in car.) , cut the hanging power lines off and laid them down and made it safe to back out. We got out another way and drove home. Did not get home in Oakley until after 5 AM. Thanks to Fire Dept who kept us comfortable until PG&E made it safe. thanks to PG&E for responding promptly. we had our autistic son in car and were worried he might try to get out of car. PG&E didn’t know offhand how power grid was laid out so I am wondering if Power is restored on Crow Drive, Crow Ct, Big trees Circle, Piute C

Does anyone know how wide spread the current outrage is and any estimates on when it might be repaired? Is it snow or wind related, or both?
    Thanks

Just for the record, Bonnie, these videos in the Forum are from Sandi. The videos on the front page of the site (with the drone footage) are from me, Joe, aka BigTreesTechMan.

    Happy New Year!

Awesome “videography”, Sandi! The drone footage adds so much more dimension/perspective to what it really looks like up there! Thanks!!

Because we didn’t want to pay more than 3 times what we paid last year, we ended up having to get a split plan….California Fair Plan and Travellers for contents, etc. Local agent Carol Mikalec 209-200-1901. I cannot say enough good things about her, very helpful and knowledgeable about what is happening with all the cancellations and rate increases.

Our houses in Santa Clara and Arnold are both insured by The Hartford via our AARP membership for over ten years. If you are an AARP member (their annual membership is very reasonable) I’d ask for a quote. The Hartford also covers our two cars.

We got the same letter from AAA, so we did quite a bit of research. We’re going with USAA for both cars and both homes. We save money by bundling. USAA is VERY serious about security. 1-800-531-8722. I think you have to be a veteran, which I am, to become a member.

Don’t bother checking with Heffernan. Too expensive. Einhorn is another reasonable choice.

    Good luck.

Has anyone else had the fire portion of their insurance cancelled? My AAA policy just dropped for 2019, the following: Fire, Wind Hail, Explosion, Riot, Aircraft, Vehicles, Smoke, Volcanic Eruption, or vandalism, Loss of use, etc. Any suggestions of what insurance companies are currently covering these items?
