I talked to a PG&E lineman. He said that it was a kind of breaker intended to shut down power in case of a detected short in the system (like a breaker in your house). He said that as a result of the recent court rulings (actually he blamed the Governer who has no say in the matter), PGE was forced to set these breakers at their highest sensitivity and that the excess power consumption due to the Holiday influx of people had caused the breakers to trip. Once tripped, PGE has also been ordered to do a 100% physical inspection of all the lines in the effected area and this is what takes most of the time.

Wow, that is a great, well thought out and written letter. I agree with it! I know see after the Tamarack fire, the USFS announced on TV they would be proactive, attacking fires right away instead of letting things burn after all these years! I sure hope so!

Let’s all do what we can do! 🙂

    Hello Bigtrees Tech,
Over the past year or so, I’ve felt compelled to write a letter regarding our terrible wildfire situation in the state and country. As a career firefighter, and one who was called to fight many wildland fires throughout the state, the problem (s) and solution seemed obvious. Unfortunately, as time marches on, those in power haven’t brought forth the reason that these wildfires keep growing in magnitude and devastation. Instead, it seems we keep doing business as normal and the destruction marches on every year!

Please read the attached letter and if you agree what I’ve written and observed over the years, pass it on… If you have a different perspective, please contact me, as I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve wondered the same thing regarding lack of posts. I really enjoy checking out Big Trees Tech and sure hope it’s not fading away due to lack of interest after all of Joe’s hard work all these years!!!

No loss of interest here, just not able to get up there much due to possible smoke. It is strange that the AQI index is so high (180 today), but Joe’s pictures are pretty clear. Is the smoke really that bad up there?

If you recently purchased a cabin in BTV in Camp Connell and Dorrington you will also need snow removal. In heavy storms you can expect berms to be blocking driveways and up to 8 ft tall in heavy storms. Berms this tall are impossible to shovel. The county does not allow cars to park on the road while snow removal is going on. Don’t get stuck! Buy your contract now Snider’s Snow Removal 209 795-2847 or snidersnowremoval@outlook.com

It seems unusual that it’s been quite awhile since there have been any postings – have folks lost interest in the wonderful medium “bigtreestechman” has so faithfully maintained all these years?

We are planning on driving up to BTV on Friday. How is the smoke from the Tamarack and Henry fires?

in reply to: Query on Cabin Signs #7068

Hello neighbors…please make sure your snowflakes for snow removal with Snider’s are still at the end of your driveways. We are getting calls from homeowners that someone is taking them down and they didn’t switch their service. We actually just watched a video from a homeowner. We know who is doing it. I may just post the video but pretty sure everyone would know who it is too…I hate being disappointed in people.
