If going the small generator route, like a Honda, I suggest the Smarter Tools generator built by Yamaha. It is available online thru Home Depot about $300 cheaper with everything being equal.

OK, I have been doing some more research. Does anyone have experience with the DuroMax 12000 Watt 18hp Portable Hybrid Gas Propane Generator?

I know that this can wired into the main circuit and plugged in when needed. I assume I can get a local electrician to install the electrical transfer switches, etc.

    Any comments?

    Extension cords yes.

    Hook into main panel NO.

I use an electric start generator with extension cords. The only problem is that is does not hook into the water heater, therefore after a couple of days we have cold water.

I’m sure others have ideas you may want to look into.

Do individual items have to be plugged into a portable generator or can the generator easily hook into the grid in the house? If individual then would I have to have a series of extension cords running from the house to the generator?

Interesting video. I’ve driven that road many, many times, but the video makes it look straighter. I can assure you it isn’t, but it’s lovely.

Tmobile is only wifi in BTV. On the drive up 4 from Stockton, there’s a blip in Copperopolis, a larger blip in Angels, and service in Murphys; otherwise, nothing after Farmington. Nothing in BV.

Friends with Verizon have service when hiking in Carson Iceberg.

Air quality here is wonderful and fresh. We came up after being evacuated from the Atlas fire and the fresh mountain air and the early fall colors are exactly what we needed.

    Hello All,
How is the air lately? I see reports of a fire in West Point that is 70% contained.
    Thankss

We have two different cell services. One is Verizon that works great, the other is AT & T that doesn’t work after Murphy’s area. As for a landline, we use Magic Jack. $35 a year, can’t beat that. Grandkids use walkie-talkies. lol
