ParticipantI had my modest cabin done by Kevin Dye last summer.
He’s really a nice guy and now raising his family in Arnold after moving from AZ where he had a bigger company.
He did the exterior and treated the deck. To my layman’s eye the work is excellent.
I had no problem at all with what he charged.
One very cool difference was what he did for my estimate.
He shot a video walking around the outside of my place with a running commentary on what needed to be done and how he intended to do it.
He then posted it to youtube and sent me the link.
pretty cool.
FWIW – Highly recommended by me.SnowShoe
ParticipantWe are looking for recommendations of painting contractors that will do exterior, interior, and also our deck. Thanks.

ParticipantHi,
A Bear Valley Snowmobile Page has been created.
The page is set up for folks who like to snowmobile on the Highway 4 corridor – so they can share stories, pictures, videos, tips and tricks and status on the current conditions.
You can find the page at:

ParticipantWe’ve owned for a year and a half and still no notice of a fire tax/fee. We get our property tax bills just fine (note to self, pay 2nd installment!), but no fire bill yet.

ParticipantI asked that exact question of our CPA this past Wednesday. Since the initial ruling in the case is that it is a “fee”, not a tax, then we are not allowed to deduct it on our 2013 tax return. However, the ruling is being appealed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. So, if in the future it is deemed a “tax”, we might get it back (if you file the Petition for Redetermination) or if we don’t get it back, then we can claim a deduction. Here is the link to one of the Howard Jarvis’ recent newsletters:
