You can never go wrong with a Stihl. I’m no pro, but if you watch the pros carefully they all use this brand. I have owned one for 18+ years and have never been disappointed.
caleachParticipantI am in need of a ne chainsaw and would like some recommations. Haveseen some Husqvanrana’ and some Stihl’s more often then not. I am looking for at least a 28 inch bar.
What say you?

trailriderParticipantSorry a bit delayed here. We spent most of our time on Beaver Creek. The levels were great, but fish were nowhere to be found. We worked about as much of it as we could in two days, allowing a few hours to fish the Stanislaus. Not a single bite.
I’m sure there are fish in the Stan, and you can fish parts of it, but conditions are far from prime.
TonyParticipantNo camping at Lake Alpine anytime soon…
mhjohn2ParticipantHumane society thrift shop next to Big Trees Market takes donations and has other great stuff for sale
phillygirlParticipantCould you give me some ideas of where I can donate clothing and small household items in the Big Trees area or Arnold?
Thanks for your suggestions.

rswheeler1ParticipantI fished New Melones yesterday. Trolled for 3 1/2 hours and got just 2 bites. Disappointing.

TonyParticipantHere are some photos from yesterday: The first is the Lake Alpine Boat Ramp and frozen Lake Alpine; the second is Campground Manager, Justin, standing at the entrance to Silver Tip Campground; the third is the middle driveway into Lake Alpine Lodge (they have plowed one pass into the main driveway for their employees only). This year’s snowpack was huge and is taking its time to melt out, so we all have to be patient. The only parking available at Lake Alpine is at Chickaree Day Use Area. Big Trees State Park is the nearest camping at this time and through Memorial Day Weekend (at least). We will keep you posted of any changes as we are as excited as you are for summer activities to begin!
