Joe,
I like everything about the new format and layout better than the earlier version. It’s faster, easier, and more intuitive. You are doing a great job. We will all be patient with the changes and additions that are yet to come.
bigtreestechmanKeymasterHi VNJ, those graphs are really too small to read anyway. If you click on one that you want to see, it will open up a big version without the title bar.
I had to add the title bar because it was too difficult to even tell what the graph was without it.
Sometime I may make some changes or go back to the way it was on the old site where you had to click on the current condition to get the graph.
joeallenParticipantGood luck blocking spammers. They always seem to find a way around spam blocks.
allenParticipantvnjParticipantAt least on my computer (Win 7 and Firefox 23) the titles at the bottom of each of the 24 Hour Weather graphs cover the lower portion of each graph. Not a high priority issue because you can view the entire graph (without title) by clicking on it, but thought I would point it out.
itsleahParticipantThanks LostBruce!!!
itsleahParticipantThanks Joe!!!
bigtreestechmanKeymasterBTW, if enough donations come into get that lovely electric violin, I’ll try to make arrangements to play a few tunes at Camp Connell next season. If I can arrange it I know it will bring tears to your eyes… Probably not like Itzhak Perlman might touch your soul but more like listening to an old cat choke on a chicken bone… time will tell.
Here’s somebody who really knows how to play it!
bigtreestechmanKeymasterTo post a video it has to be on YouTube (or maybe vemo) first. Then all you have to do is past the link into your forum post like this:
After the last few long days and more success than anticipated, it just seemed appropriate 🙂 😉
bigtreestechmanKeymasterFYI, every last element of the old site has been removed for security reasons. All attempts to reach any of the old locations in bigtreestech.com/home or bigtreestech.com/smf will land you on the new site’s front page.
Also fyi, with some of the measures I’ve put in place, too many attempts to go poking around looking for files inside the site without following links provided on the site, could get your IP address blocked. For example, someone could type in the url bigtreestech.com/home/admin.php… That would not be a good idea!
vnjParticipantThe new forum is much easier for old eyes to read! We appreciate everything you do —– and yes, we found the appropriate button even though it moved from the right side to the left! 🙂
bigtreestechmanKeymasterI wasn’t going to do software today… but here I am, still at it. I just installed another measure to help keep the site up, running, and uncompromised.
btt_adminKeymasterOK, I ended up going through more than 60 registratrion requests. Two were approved, about 10 are pending verification and the rest were confirmed spammers.
The new protection system is in place… let’s just hope it works!btt_adminKeymasterNope, not the canned meat.
Just since yesterday afternoon when I walked away from the computer, I have 60 user registration requests to deal with the vast majority of which are spam (unless your name happens to be TQ4cwwwrtty or the like).
Today, I’ll be getting rid of the 20 questions registration form and going to a more aggressive, behind the scenes spam checker.
If you get blocked, it may be that for some reason your IP address, email address, or username has been reported to one of the several spam databases.
Feel free to contact me if you get blocked and don’t know why.
joebtt_adminKeymasterfyi, I started this morning at a little after 4:30am after not being able to sleep, thinking about fixes for the site.
The only thing I am going to keep working on for a while is anti-registration spam. Just since this morning I have received about a dozen very suspect registration requests, and only one that I know to be legit. I’m now on my third attempt at a spam registration blocker.
On the old BigTreesTech, it took over a year to find a solution that worked.
There ought to be a death penalty for spammers! -
