Yesterday the pest control man called me to tell me what damage he had found.(lucky, it was only a down gutter along the front) In the conversation, he said “I don’t know who is doing your driveway, but they are doing a super job, I had no trouble getting up your driveway”.

My land line has been dead since January 8th. Twenty days and counting. I’m near the end of Sierra Parkway and Indian Rock. This is my first significant outage in the 18 years up here. In the past I’ve only had a few brief outages, a day or two at most. In past big storms my power would be out from 3-5 days but the land line always worked. Not this time around. Sure wish Verizon would put a tower up to reach the lower sections of Big Trees. I’d dump that expensive land line like a brick.

I was however able to activate wifi calling on my cell phone and make wifi calls at the Lube Room. Clunky but it does work.

I called them yesterday, and they expected it to be repaired on Mon evening (Karock near Yuroc). Yes, first time it’s been out that long, and we’ve been in Big Trees for 29 years. You can call and check your number, it wasn’t too long a wait/ordeal.

So much for keeping the landline for emergency situations!

Just got up here today and our neighbors house had a tree top come down on the back deck (2943 Kenshaw). Doesn’t look like it did any damage but if anyone has there contact info it might be worth giving them a heads up.

Thanks! If my phone ever goes out again…anyone is welcome to come to my house and tell us they need a plow. You can google our address. There was a lot of people that did not have snow removal set up and got stuck. Come on by! Hopefully this won’t happen again! A hand full of people did get in touch with me on my cell. Sorry folks! This storm was a killer.

Could someone please recommend a good moving company? I rec’d one recommendation but looked them up on Yelp and they had as many one star reviews as 5 star and almost nothing in between. I got the impression that you could get a great crew from them or a terrible crew, and of course you had no choice. SHORT move — one mile cabin to cabin. Furniture only. All the boxes and small items have already been moved. Need to move beds, tables, recliners, couch and the like.

It appears that our garage door opener fell victim to the recent power outages. We had snapped lines coming to the house and there were some significant power surges.
Does anyone have a recommendation for anyone to take a look at this and possibly replace it?
