    Our webcams came back up at north end of murriettas roost a little after 6. Now hoping the heater kicks on! This is the side deck taken last Thursday and tonight.

    Yahoo, power is back on at our cabin in the 3000 block of Shoshone!! Lucky for us, the webcams are both up and running, which means Comcast is working too.
    Now to go up and see if there is any damage. Good luck everyone…

    I do not like living off the grid!!!
    it will take a while to get BigTreesTech all back up and working and a while longer to get through all the registration requests (including the ones from Trump’s home town in Russia)

    I am at Meko and my power and Comcast is up. Looks like it was a little before 3:00PM today. My cameras and weather station are back working.

    I had Sandi from Sierra Sentry check on our place and it appears that the Comcast cable coming into the house has snapped. I just put a call into Comcast to schedule a repair.

    too many missing terms to complete calculation, but 40 years of repairing split pipes; 3 days at 18 will split improperly drained lines. I would drain out hot and cold lines and ignore tank or maybe drain 25% off to allow expansion. If you are not local then stop by the hardware store for a supply of 1/2 and 3/4 elbows, several tanks for your torch, sleeves and couple of feet of pipe.

    I may be low with a 25F mean estimate. The area under the cabin is enclosed so it does not get the full effect of outside temperatures. However with temperatures forecasted to drop below 20 for a couple of nights it is really going to get interesting if the power is not on soon.

    New phoned info from PGE (for my address) is projecting restored service on Thursday, and affects 489 customers.Nice to see that power has been restored to some customers. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to repair this mess. Thanks to all the pros on this job. Huge thanks!!!

    Not doing your math – but some anecdotal info: our cabin was 33* last night after no power since Fri/Sat wee hours. So your 25* guess may be too cold 🙂

    Any engineers out there care to take a crack at this calculation? Starting temperature of 125F, mass of 55 gallons stored in high efficiency water heater container. No wind exposure and sits under a cabin on a concrete pad with a ground temperature of 50F. Mean ambient temperature of 25F.

    In the absence of electric power how many days will it take for the tank contents to freeze solid?

    Here’s some photos from DHs trip up to check on things. The sliding door photo is looking out to a second floor deck.

    The tree on the power lines is not our home. I reported to BTV to see if they can contact the owners of any homes he saw downed lines.

    Having ridden out an 11 day outage on the East Coast some years ago; here’s the deal. Comcast can’t define outages when there’s no power to your modem. So until you have power restored they have no way to help you. Those of you who have Verizon, you have some ability to “report” an outage. But the rest of us will need to be patient.
