ParticipantIs the Bank of America in Arnold closed? I noticed that their sign has been removed and the parking lot is roped off. A search of the B of A website doesn’t list an Arnold location.

ParticipantWe got dropped by Liberty Mutual last year for our cabin in Dorrington. I ended looking for a new carrier for all our insurance (cars, house in the Bay Area and cabin) through a broker. We are now insured by Travelers for all, including the cabin.

ParticipantMy wife and I have had AAA for about 30 years. Two cars and two houses. GEICO and USAA would not insure the cabin.
Good luck!

ParticipantI know my brother and I used to shoot outside White Pines. Not sure of the name or number of that fire road, sorry. Its used a lot and even the ranger who stop to talk to us said this was one of the safest places to shoot.

ParticipantThere is another place that we used to go and it was East on 4 at about fire road N57 or 59. I think if you check at the guns and ammo store near Big Trees Market they should be able to tell you all the allowable places.

ParticipantLloyds is not renewing policies. I sourced them 4 years ago via CSAA and Burns&Wilcox.
Today, I called Costco/Amerprise and their broker. Teddi at StateFarm. USAA and their broker. Nationwide. None are insuring in our area.
I’m waiting for callback from MarkTwain & Allstate.
Any other bright ideas?

ParticipantThere is a designated shooting area at Candy Rock Quarry south of Avery. Take Hunter Dam Road off Highway 4, right onto Candy Rock Road, and left on the road to the quarry.

ParticipantLooking for a local, not too hard to find and get to: safe place to discharge firearms. Do not want to affect anyone else with noise or safety concerns. I would like to be able to sight in long rifle as well as train spouse and others in firearms safety and operation. Veteran and former LEO: own only a few firearms: long rifle/shotgun. Haven’t shot myself for a few years and will want to reacquaint myself with proper techniques before bringing anyone else out. Not looking to offend non-gun people or start a gun debate; please don’t respond with anti-gun discourse if this is your opinion

ParticipantThe bats become very active just after dark when the mosquitoes are most active. The population in our area is very large, and there may be more this year since the mosquito population seems to have boomed.
Don’t do anything to harm them – a single bat can eat a thousand mosquitoes per hour.
There are bat detectors available that convert their sound down to an audible range – a former neighbor used to bring one up. They may be available for rent or to borrow. Check with the wildlife centers for information.snowb0und
ParticipantIt’s probably all the granite. Granite has some trace radioactive elements in it.

ParticipantI was sitting outside for about 15 minutes and all of a sudden bats were flying around, every 60 seconds or so. Have no idea how many actual bats there were but it was beautiful to see. More than I have seen in at least 10 years.
