ParticipantThere is a hang tree of sorts on Hang Tree Lane. Just up from Black Bart on the left is a huge cedar with large branches that jut out which one would be hanging from. Whether of not it was used as such a thing who knows?

Dorrington, CA…Air & Ground crews are working a 1.5 acre vegetation fire in the Skull Creek Area on the south side of the Stanislaus River. At last report they are making good progress. Luckily moisture loads in that area are still fairly high. Units from Ebbetts Pass Fire, Cal-Fire & more are working the blaze.MeadowPaws
ParticipantDoes anyone know where the CDF Helicopter that is getting water in Dorrington Meadow is going?

ParticipantDoes anyone know the history of the street name Hangtree Trail? Is there or was there an actual hanging tree? Every time I give directions to someone I ponder this poor choice for a street name. I wonder how hard it would be to have it changed?

ParticipantThere used to be a native plant nursery at the Tuolumne Rancheria outside of Tuolumne City, but I don’t believe it is still in operation. Haven’t seen the sign in a long time. The only other option that I’m aware of for Sierra Nevada native plants would be in Placerville (don’t remember the name) or South Lake Tahoe (Aspen Hollow Landscape Nursery – they have a website)

ParticipantBecause I have no email address for 1Buddy, we are expressing our gratitude here at BTT. Three fantastic gentlemen from 1Buddy’s family not only got our desk to the car (along with a heavy solid core door), but insisted they would gladly come to our new cabin where they carried the heavy desk up to the second floor. We are grateful not only for the much needed and appreciated help, but also for their friendliness, great sense of humor, and outstanding generosity. It is people like 1Buddy’s family that make the area such a wonderful place to live. Thank you very much!

ParticipantStop at the US Forestry Department office in Hathaway Pines, and pick up the map of the Stanislaus National forest – a wealth of information showing forest service roads and hiking trails. They also used to have – don’t know if it is still available – a map of locations accessible from along Highway 4.

ParticipantIt’s about 6 miles past sour grass and 4-5 after hitting the dirt road which is fine. There is also a fabulous swimming hole at the bridge

ParticipantIt is a few miles if I recall. It is not paved but the forest/logging road is usually in good shape.

ParticipantWow, we’ve never ventured past the Sourgrass Bridge. We have always accessed Beaver Creek at Calaveras Big Trees SP. How far past the bridge is it? Is the road paved?
