KeymasterWe would like to hear from the folks who have bought up here in the last 4 or 5 years. I think this might be the biggest snow dump we’ve had in a while.

ParticipantWe have the same issue with our small cabin in Arnold. A contractor, in for another reason, thought it was simply a matter of getting fresh air into the air tight cabin. He thought the problem would disappear if we were there full time. Indeed, it was better in the summer when we kept a window ajar while we were gone. Let me know what you find out.

ParticipantWhen we first arrive at our cabin, here is a noticeable musty odor as soon as we enter the front door. It might be a decomposing mouse, but I am thinking I have a mold problem somewhere under or in the house. I am having difficulty determining the source of the smell as it seems to be fairly evenly distributed. Cursory examination does not reveal any plumbing leaks. I did have some water flooding from a few burst pipes three-four years ago, but the only water that escaped was a few gallons tops. Anyone know of someone who might be able to help me with this before I start demolishing sheet rock? The odor diminishes after you are in the house for a bit, but if you go outside and come back in, the smell is evident. I would appreciate any advice.

Participant“Since i now have home automation hub I am going to add a few lightbulbs”……and a wifi thermostat. It’s really nice to have the heat on when you walk into the cabin. I turn mine on when I hit Stockton

ParticipantI had the same problem with having to go outside in the mud to shut and drain the water system. I just moved the main shut-off and drain valves to a closet area and cut a 1’x2′ access hole. I extended the valve shafts with 3/8″ rod so the hand wheels were just below access door. I’m sure Danny at Saul can help out.

ParticipantHello all. It has been a few months with the econnet electric valve. I am pretty pleased with it. It only works if you have a ball valve. It took some homework and about total 2 hours to install but it sure is nice to press a button on my phone to open and close the water valve. Way better than late night arrivals in the cold going into the crawl space. Since i now have home automation hub I am going to add a few lightbulbs. Happy holidays.
