ParticipantDorrington! Trees haven’t been felled yet – just got notice they were scheduled to go. I will send you a private note once they are down. These trees are pretty big so I think there will be lots to go around!

ParticipantI’d be happy to take some off your hands. I’ll be up on the Thanksgiving weekend (Fri-Sun) if that works. I can’t take too many at once but could make a few trips. Are you in Dorrington or Arnold?

ParticipantI have two pretty large white firs that will be taken down by PG&E here very soon. Is anyone interested in any of the rounds? At one time I seem to remember a group that collected firewood for charity?

ParticipantThanks for your interest and sorry for being so late in posting this. It has been taken.

ParticipantHi, we just recently purchased a place up in Camp Connell. As of yet I don’t have a snow blower. I would love to take it off your hands. I won’t be back in the area until the weekend though. If that works for you just let me know.
My name is Jon Ostlund
My email is jon.ostlund@gmail.com.Thanks

ParticipantI have an Arians Snowblower, 5 HP with chains on the tires. My back and knees can’t manhandle it up the steep driveway anymore.
It was last serviced by Clint Jodie at Best Ride Ever.
This unit is free to a good home

ParticipantJust received my bill from Cal Waste
$47.91 for two months, pick up each week, one week is garbage only, second is garbage and re-cycle.
32 Gallon garbage can and one recycling cart (we have two small containers, one yellow and one green) + the garbage container.
Really appreciate the service in the winter, but probably could do without in the summer.

ParticipantWe had Spyders for our Honda Odyssey mini-van and I highly recommend them. The traction is pretty good- not as good as chains, but we never had a problem with control.
The main reason I recommend them though is because they’re so easy and quick to put on. If you’re coming up the mountain at night and you know you SHOULD put chains on for that last half mile, but you think you can make it… with spyders you just do it because it’s so easy. There were lots of times when chain control was up for just a few minutes or a mile or so- with chains I would have been far more likely to get through it rather than deal with putting them on and then taking them off.

ParticipantAfter driving a 4wd for many years I recently purchased a Prius and now I need to get more serious about doing something about traction in the snow. I recall people liking the spikes-spider type and I see now Thule has something similar. I had Z-chains for my Pilot but did not find them to be as easy to put on and off as they were advertised to be. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

ParticipantI don’t have a hot tub but my neighbor recently put one in. It is noisy when it runs. I love the silence of the mountains but when it kicks on the sound carries for a long way.

ParticipantDoes anyone one know the cost of regular garbage pickup in Dorrington area? Mostly for a small garbage can or recycle can? Thanks

ParticipantFrom MyMotherLode:
San Andreas, CA – Beginning next week, residents can once again burn debris piles, but there will still be hourly restrictions.
The recent rains and cooler temperatures prompted the lifting of the burn permit suspension. Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of CAL FIRE will lift the ban beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, for Tuolumne, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus and Eastern San Joaquin counties. However, the hours of burning will be restricted to nights from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on permissible burn days. It is residents’ responsibility to check burn day status by calling their local Air Pollution Control District listed below:
Calaveras County: 209/754-6600
Tuolumne County: 209/533-5598
San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties: 877/429-2876caleach
ParticipantBill and Barbera have always been top notch in our book. We’ve had a couple of problems but were covered by warranty, no questions asked. They are ready willing and quick to make house calls if you think something is not right.

ParticipantI purchased a Hot Springs spa from High Country in Arnold 10 years ago. I have had zero problems with it. This unit does not require harsh chemicals due to a 24 hour recirculation system. The water is always clear with no smell.I am a part timer and turn down temperature when I leave. Bill and Barbara at High Country are long time residents and always ready to assist. I highly recommend talking with them
