ParticipantI’ve rented a log splitter from Arnold Equipment Rental several times. It isn’t expensive and the machines are very powerful. They rent for about $15 per hour with a 3 hour minimum.

Participantdoes anyone up here rent log splitters? i don’t feel like getting on in sacramento and driving it all the way up here. i’d buy one, but probably not worth the hassle as i wouldn’t use it enough to make it worthwhile.
thanks

ParticipantJust returned from our cabin on Hokan Circle and it looked like a hydrant had been replaced and a massive amount of water had run down the hill. Anybody know what happened?

ParticipantFrom the Sheriff’s Office:
On October 21, 2015 at about 5:00 PM the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of what appears to be a voluntary missing adult.Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Yuroc Drive in the town of Dorrington and learned that 27 year old Richard Treff had not returned to his residence after leaving on foot. A relative at the residence reported that Treff was known to frequently walk a trail in the area.
Search and Rescue teams, with the aid of helicopters have searched the area extensively, and no sign of Treff has been located.
Treff is described as a white male adult who is 6’02” tall and 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black and grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black and blue “Van’s” style tennis shoes.
Anyone with information regarding Richard Treff is asked to immediately contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-6500, or their local law enforcement agency.

ParticipantCalaveras County Sheriff’s Office said three people were found shot to death in the Rail Road Flat area on Tuesday. Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a marijuana rip-off gone bad. Deputies responded to a call of shots fired around 9:30 a.m. They discovered three bodies on a property near Rail Road Flat and Doe Road. Aerial views of the property show dozens of marijuana plants. Sheriff Gary Kuntz believes the three victims were hoping to cash in on the valuable crop.
“I think they probably got caught stealing or something, but yeah horrible,” said Mary Hauser who lives a few homes down.
“I moved here from a big metropolis never expect to hear news like this here and it is obviously extremely saddening and upsetting,” said Caslin Tomaszeweski, who lives in the area and serves as director of the Calaveras Cannabis Alliance.
Sheriff Kuntz said it appears the three victims were caught trying to steal marijuana from the property. The brother of the property owner chased them down the driveway and shot them to death according to Kuntz. He was now in custody as a person of interest. Investigators said there was no indication that the shooter acted in self- defense and are treating this case as a triple homicide.
They also said the marijuana grow on the property was within the parameters of state law. However, more and more growers are popping up in the area. Some neighbors are concerned that something must be done before incidents like this become a common occurrence.
“When government does not regulate a valuable commodity like that, it gets handed over to the black market and handed over to criminal interests,” said Tomaszeweski.
“If this is cannabis related, that it’s the last gasp of a black market economy and something we don’t have to see again,” he said.
Mary Hauser was hoping for regulation that would limit marijuana’s growth in her community. “It is all around us now and it never used to be. People are just selling it out on their property now because they get such big money. I don’t really like it,” she declared.
The identies of the victims have not been released, but Sheriff Kuntz said he believed they are from nearby Stanislaus County.
