Thinking of coming back up the hill and wanted to see what the sentiment is in BTV. We have seen that the Butte fire is 30 % contained but want to know what people feel about the situation in general?

Should we stay away or does it seem as safe as it could be given the circumstances?

Anyone figure out why Camp Connell was not listed in the advisory (or did I miss it?)?

Just to be clear, the person that posted that Dorrington had been taken off the evacuation list was wrong. Dorrington is still on the advisory evacuation list. I have asked but have not received a reply as to where this dis-information came from.

I don’t think Hwy 4 was ever closed. You can check road conditions via the menu at the top of the page.

Thanks for noticing. It probably got stuck the other day when we had a power outage. I’ll reset the machine that creates the feed and hopefully that will fix it.

I noticed that your weather feed has a last updated date and time of 9/9 at 6:00PM. My dropcam has been down since that time, which I think is when the power outage occurred. Interestingly, my Nest thermostat still seems to be connected and giving updates. Is there some type of local internet problem or is this just a coincidence? And, thank you so much for providing all of the information on the fire. Your site has been invaluable!

Just confirmed that Big Trees Market opened this morning and will be open until 5PM today (Sunday, 9/13/2015).

On a brighter note… there is rain in the forecast. Hopefully the “slight chance” turns into a downpour!

I was in Arnold and Murphys a couple hours ago. Traffic both directions was very light. A very few businesses were open but most are closed. Not many folk around.

Yesterday, when all the evacuation notices were issued travel down 4 was heavily impacted. I suspect that the impact has lessened considerably. We, and I’d guess many others are planning an eastward rather than westward escape route should the need arise.

Our daughter who had been using the hose for a while decided to come down the mountain today to avoid being trapped by road closures. Has evacuation from BTV been much of an issue for others?
