ParticipantThat thing is HUGE! Where is it? I don’t know where the Cal Trans facility is.

ParticipantWe came up to our cabin to discover a humungous building erected at the Cal Trans facility. Our property abuts the building and our concern is the intrusiveness on our backyard and the devaluation of surrounding properties. As next door neighbors, we were not notified of this project. We were not told the planned use for this building, the hours of use, the mitigation plans for water run off (our property slopes down from the building), nor were we aware of how huge this building would be on completion. It dwarfs the other buildings on Cal Trans property and the cabins on surrounding properties. For this rural location, it is truly grotesque.
Knowing Cal Trans is a state department and is typically not subject to local planning regulations, we may have little recourse. Yet, we have requested in writing mitigation of this building, such as landscaping, irrigation and a paint color which blends into the surrounding forest. Our request is a reasonable one. If anyone else has concerns about this development, please contact me.rswheeler1
ParticipantAn article in today’s (Sunday) Contra Costa Times said that Bear will be open with business as usual beginning November 29. Very good news, except for the lack of snow.

ParticipantThanks for the suggestion. I’ll give them a try and see what they recommend. It’s amazing how the stone holds dirt and then gets distributed to the carpets in the other areas of the house…..probably because the dirt here is so fine.

ParticipantFor w.eppler: Nope, I’m a different “ebaker.” I’ve been around a long time, but never in Danville.

ParticipantSurtech Supply in Tracy,Ca. has a full line of wonderful floor and stone cleaners and sealers. They are great to work with and I’m sure could recommend someone in the area that could address your floor needs. Most likely a proper cleaning with the a correct neutral cleaner and then posibly a penitrating sealer would do the job depending on what type of stone you have. You can find them on the Internet. Hope that helps.

ParticipantOn a side bar, to EBaker!
Are you by chance the EBaker that used to live in Danville back in the mid 70’s? If so, ,I was a friend of the family. For Mountain Dad, why are you selling that fine Bose!
Those are great units. I have two and love them.
Good luck.

ParticipantAs skisnxs said, Craigslist is probably your best bet. It’s also easy to focus on the area where you and the items are located.

ParticipantHow much for the Bose. Does it work? Does it have a music port?
