ParticipantWe typically have at least one meal in Arnold and always make at least one trip to Big Tree’s Market and the Bistro!!! This weekend was one of the busiest I’ve seen for a while. Espescially evadent on the way home with traffic light in Murphys!!
Oh well, a weekend at the cabin is still better than anything in the lowlands!!!w.eppler
ParticipantWe pick them up on our trai cam on the lower side of Krock also. Also appeared to have a wolf about 6 months back!

ParticipantFirst time bear sighting for me on Venado. Standing at the head of my driveway talking with the neighbor, and a bear cub comes up crosses the street within 20 feet of us. It looked a little young to me to be without mama. However I tried following it to get a pic but could not do it. All the while, looking over my shoulder for mama. He wandered off toward Lakemont. Very exciting

Participantyes, thank you Caltrans morons. Your new light at Highway 4 and Bell Road works wonderful. Noticed Friday evening coming up, that the light was changing without any cars present on Bell Road. Tax dollars at work.

ParticipantI saw one coyote behind my place on Hoopa Circle in the evening on the 25th of Aug, and 3 (mom and pups?) in the morning on the 26th.

ParticipantWe’ve never seen more coyote activity during the day here in Big Trees. Lack of water and all the fires this year?

ParticipantThank you for posting! It’s been several years since we’ve seen a bear up here too.

ParticipantVery cool, we were just talking today about not having seen a bear in our 12+ years here.

ParticipantYesterday when my wife was out walking our two small dogs she came upon a coyote on Karock near Pawnee. She thought it was about 50 Lbs or so and it didn’t really do anything and our dogs were confused and quiet. They will usually bark aggressively at anything that resembles a dog but they couldn’t figure this one out. Good thing it just wandered away.

ParticipantWe don’t ever bring up food / beverages from the bay area when we come up. We have patronized Big Trees Market since they were in the small store in Applewood Center. Back in those days, you had to shop early on holiday weekends – they would run out of popular food items. Good place to purchase Ironstone wines – cheaper than at the winery.
We also make it a point to have most of our dinners, and the occasional lunch, out at the local establishments. It is really a shame to see so many good establishments now closed.rswheeler1
ParticipantAgain, thanks to all who responded to my request. I tried paint thinner after scraping off the bulk of the pitch and it worked well.
