From the Big Trees Village Facebook page:
Now is the time that the Bears are on the move…
Over the last several days there has been reports in the BTVPOA area that several homes and cars broken into by bear. Last night a juvenile bear was seen breaking into a homeowner’s car on Shoshone, then the bear went to a home on Sierra Parkway at 2:00 a.m. and broke into the home while the homeowners was asleep. The homeowner locked themselves into their bedroom and called the Sheriff. There have been other reports of bears trying to get into homes through windows in our area.If you live in BTV please remember we live in the woods, keep your home and property safe, this is the time of year when bears are on the move for food. Don’t leave your screen doors or windows open if possible, this is an invitation for the bears to come in and do not leave food out or in your cars. This picture was taken this morning on Chinook Way I am sure this was a bear.
Remembers bears don’t just move around at night they can be seen during the day too.
ladyknitterParticipantJust notified by owner of home on Hiawatha that a large bear came in after breaking a window in their kitchen about 11:30 last night.
gagacabinParticipantSecond time in a week I have had a bear come snooping around the patio and porch area.
Looks like a pretty good size one to me.

mtndadParticipantPower out
Reason for power out 8/22 9:30AM??
gagacabinParticipantI had two huskies come by the cabin early this morning, they drank water and left. About 2 hours later they returned. I checked they both have on blue collars with no name tags. Again they drank some water, lots of water. They are now on the move again headed down Shoshone. Does anyone know where they belong? Hoping they are not lost.
jr.ParticipantI have a barely used snowblower I was just thinking about selling. $650 in excellent shape. 530 305-2737
John
ladyknitterParticipantOur old snowblower died!does anyone have one they are selling?
rswheeler1ParticipantYou might try Paul at 925-360-2811. He’s a handyman and has done 2 jobs for me.
ScottghmParticipantWe are in the process of starting a home project and need to move furniture out of our home and into the garage and a storage shed on our property.
Does anyone have recommendations of people who would assist with moving, ecpecially heavy pieces of furniture?FlyfishrParticipantOne of the docents during the Discovery Day festivities in the park spoke about this. Instead of burning in sections, starting near the top of the hill and working down, they started the fire at the bottom and let it burn upwards. Nearly made it to, and across, the highway. Docent said parts of it smoked for a week after.
ghmParticipantYes. I used him for both my Airens snowblower and Honda generator last fall. Mostly normal service- oil change, plugs, grease, etc. I was happy with the work and price was very reasonable.
BIGTREESParticipantHello, I am in need of a Honda Generator service and repair. Did you use Jodie’s Mobile Repair and if so were you happy with his work??
Regards,
Chriscmon4dayParticipantLooks like the prescribed burn got a little hotter than expected
jr.ParticipantThanks. It looks like they burned more than under brush. Perhaps they are trying to get the view of big trees available to passers by.
guyoParticipantPrescribed burn about 4 weeks ago.
