ParticipantHere are some photos from yesterday: The first is the Lake Alpine Boat Ramp and frozen Lake Alpine; the second is Campground Manager, Justin, standing at the entrance to Silver Tip Campground; the third is the middle driveway into Lake Alpine Lodge (they have plowed one pass into the main driveway for their employees only). This year’s snowpack was huge and is taking its time to melt out, so we all have to be patient. The only parking available at Lake Alpine is at Chickaree Day Use Area. Big Trees State Park is the nearest camping at this time and through Memorial Day Weekend (at least). We will keep you posted of any changes as we are as excited as you are for summer activities to begin!

ParticipantHas anyone heard anything on Ebbett’s pass opening this weekend (Memorial)? I kind of doubt it due to all the snow and possible damage being found up there, but thought I would be the first to ask this year.

ParticipantI’m actually dealing with a big mess that PG&E left starting the spring of 2015! In the autumn of 2015 they dropped even more and, due to an early snow, never cleared their slash. Spring of 2016 I paid to that the latter mentioned slash removed out of pocket due to non-response from PG&E and my concern about the hazard it presented. Still have massive mess all over the property which, I have no doubt, contributed to the beetles that infested over 54 trees on my property. Spent $7K to have A1 take them down and remove in late autumn 2016. I have a quote from Sniders for $2K to remove the (still sitting) mess. Going to make an honest effort to meet PG&E half-way dollar-wise on this delayed clean up as I KNOW this is not only a fire hazard, but continued infestation issue. If they refuse, I will be in contact with the State, the local fire district, and my lawyer. Ridiculous hazard all in the name of preserving some power lines!

ParticipantMcKays is only bad in a couple of spots and those are heading up the other side of the dam. The road down to the dam is fine. They are making quick work of fixing the two slides on the opposite side but will still be sketchy for cars for a while. I would hope they open the gate down to the dam and allow people to turn around and come back up the same way – this would work to allow access and to not allow people to proceed past the slide areas.
I went out past Skull Creek and past the ranger station last weekend on two wheels. There are more slides once you past the fire station that will also take some time to fix.

ParticipantMy original paperwork with PG&E for the felling and removal of one tree was done in the Fall. There was a designated subcontractor for the actual removal from the lot. I have been in touch with the subcontractor a couple of times but it seems the backlog is so great that there’s no way of telling when it will get removed. I had heard a couple of times that Blue Lake Springs got hit especially hard and that area was being given priority.

ParticipantOK, listened to the rumors and went to Rawley’s with a load a needles and twigs. YES, he’s open! $12/yd. Closed on Sundays He expects to be open through mid-June unless he fills up early.
In the time it’s taken me to burn one pile (about a yard) I loaded my truck with 6 yards. Way easier to take it to Rawley’s (not to mention not smoking out my neighbors).AZbunch
ParticipantJust signed my contract for tree removal with PG&E…their timetable is 1-3 months, possibly longer due to the volume of trees. Looks like it will be a very late lot-cleaning!!

ParticipantHi Neighbors –
We have a four year old girl and could occasionally use a baby-sitter. Do you have any references for reliable, safe, fun sitters? Thanks!

ParticipantAdam,
Can you remove logs that were taken down by PG&E that were supposed to taken away by a subcontractor of theres who is behind due to the sheer volume?
